In May of 2018 I traveled to Japan to visit my kids Drew and Maria. I was there over two weeks and had a blast. We traveled to Tokyo where I had the best ramen (Anthony Bordeign ate there) and some of the best Sushi in the world. I walked across the busiest intersection in the world.

We also traveled to the old city of Kyoto, Osaka, and Hiroshima, Kyoto was the most picturesque city and it has a lot of Temples. Hiroshima was most interesting with the last building that was partially standing after the bombing. The Peace museum was very well done and thought provoking. That night we drank two bottles of wine between us, but luckily we were close to the hotel.

Maria and I rode a two day bike tour of some islands off the coast of Japan. The Shimanami bike trail follows a series of suspension bridges between Islands of the Seto Inland Sea. The ride was found in a book my sister-in-law gave me for Christmas last year called Epic Bike Rides in the World. There is a picture of us and one bridge below. We stayed for three nights in a hotel that catered to bikers. We got to know the bar tender at the Kogg bar all to well. I thank my daughter for indulging me. We had a blast.
